Saturday 24th May 2008 10am to 4pm Guided tours start on the hour Entry and Tours Free
This is our big wildlife event of the year. It is a rare opportunity for you to come and get closer to our animal collection and learn more about the conservation work we do.
The animal collection held in the meadows beyond the nursery is part of the Shorelands Group. Many are part of breeding programmes and conservation projects. Normally the collection is not open to the public and only a few of the species can be seen from The Potting Shed window. For this one day we open up the collection and take guided tours around the animals. The tours will start every hour on the hour.
We have a variety of species of cranes including Japanese Crane, East African Crowned Crane, Blue Crane, Saris Crane, White Naped Crane and Demoselle Crane. We also have White Stork, Bar Headed Geese, Alpacas, Red Squirrels and English Partridge, as well as a wide variety of waterfowl and domestic poultry.
The nursery will also be open on this day, as will our Potting Shed, which will be serving hot and cold drinks and home made cakes throughout the day. |
