The Shorelands Group encompasses all of our conservation interests, this covers our animal collection, House Sparrow Project and Red Squirrel Programme.
The Shorelands Collection, is a private collection of native and exotic animals that are maintained as part of international captive breeding programmes. The collection is managed on a voluntary basis, with surplus animals being sent on breeding loan or as donations to responsible institutions within the UK, Europe or worldwide as part of international breeding programmes.
We are currently participating in the following programmes: Boat-Billed Heron, Japanese Crane, White Naped Crane, Blue Crane, Madagascan Teal, Puna Ibis, Black Stork, Von der Deckens Hornbill, Red Squirrel and Grey Partridge.
Our collection is the largest breeder of cranes in Eastern England (if not the UK) and manage a highly successful programme for Vanellus Lapwings, being the largest breeder of Southern Lapwing in the world.
Over the next few years we aim to increase our collection and also to improve the site, to attract a great range of native amphibians, birds, insects and reptiles.
We also intend to update our website to provide more information about the species that we keep.
