About Blacksmiths Cottage Nursery

History

Blacksmiths Cottage Nursery was started in 1998 by Ben Potterton with a grant and loan from the Princes Trust  and South Norfolk District Council.

Ben has a lifelong interest in plants, attending Easton College when leaving school and upon qualifying, started working for Wyevale Garden Centres.

The nursery has slowly developed over the years, starting with two poly-tunnels on a mud field adjacent to Ben's long suffering parent’s house.

The Team

Blacksmiths Cottage Nursery is a family business. Visitors to the nursery are usually greeted by Jill (Bens mum), if you see us at show, Dave (Bens dad) is usually manning the stand or Sarah (Bens fiancée).

You might wonder what Ben actually does….

Finally,  throughout the year we have various people who help out , these include Guy Barker (The Naked Gardener), who helps with group visits, talks and creating the new gardens.
